WHAT IS ECOLOGICAL TRANSFORMATION?
Ecological transformation means adapting, improving and prioritizing sustainable patterns of production and consumption. It means putting ecology at the forefront of our processes, solutions and most importantly our way of thinking.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
At the beginning of 2022, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) published its latest report assessing the impact of climate change and possible solutions. Looking at current scientific, technical and socio-economic knowledge, the IPCC emphasizes the importance of ensuring water in advancing.
It is crucial that sectors that heavily rely on water adapt in order to mitigate their impact on accelerating climate change. Specifically, agriculture, energy and industrial water use. Technologies in these sectors "that reduce carbon emissions by promoting efficient water use can support successful adaptation".
For example, climate change has a negative impact on hydroelectric and thermal power plants, where water is a key element in their production. Together, these energy sources provide 94.7% of global electricity production.
At Veolia, we continuously work on developing and improving new and existing solutions in an attempt to provide radical solutions to major problems, together with and for stakeholders: local authorities, manufacturers, civil society, employees, etc.
With the aspiration to become a model company for ecological transformation, Veolia works on spreading existing solutions faster and more efficiently, while simultaneously seeking new answers for the future.
Our corporate group treats economic, social and ecological challenges as a single, indivisible task, on whose realization our employees, customers, partners and owners work together.
